Love Letters
They were like a life-line
Thrown to a drowning man
A young man madly in love
Of an unrequited love.
Did she know or did she not know
Of his infatuation for her,
Or didn’t she guess
Of his own madness?
Either way she kept
A correspondence with him
Writing him letters to assuage his pain
And he kept writing her letters
From the yonder side of the world
To try and bridge the gap
That separated them
To try and catch
A glimpse of that previous world
That he had departed never to return
A remanent shadow of his love
